Embarking on a New Chapter

Genesis Robinson’s Official Statement:

I am deeply honored and humbled to accept the role of Executive Director of Equal Ground. 

From serving as Volusia County Field Manager to Political Director and Interim Executive Director, My journey with the organization has been one of personal and professional growth. As I step into this role permanently, I do so with a profound sense of responsibility. These are trying times for our democracy. As Floridians, we find ourselves sandwiched between a state and Federal government that is aligned in their pursuit of a conservative agenda that threatens to marginalize our most vulnerable communities. For Black people, these fears are rooted in systemic inequities that have never benefited us. 

Under my leadership, you can count on Equal Ground to remain at the forefront of defending democracy, amplifying Black voices, fostering civic engagement, and resisting injustice. We will continue speaking truth to power and advocating for what is right at all times. In this next chapter, I pledge to lead with courage, compassion, and a steadfast dedication to expanding Black political power and safeguarding the rights of all Floridians.

I am grateful for the trust and support of the Equal Ground Board of Directors, and our founder Jasmine Burney Clark. I welcome Jasmine back to the organization as a Senior Advisor as we continue this journey together. The road ahead may be difficult, but I am confident that, united, we will overcome every obstacle and create a future where every Floridian has the opportunity to thrive.

Jasmine Burney-Clark’s Official Statement:

After five and a half years Equal Ground will be embarking on a new chapter for the organization. This leadership transition marks a pivotal moment, reflecting both growth and the enduring impact the vision I set forth when establishing the organiation. As the founder, the legacy of empowering Black communities through voting rights advocacy has laid a solid foundation for continued progress. Stepping into the role of Senior Advisor allows me to further guide and support the organization’s mission while passing the baton to a new executive director. Genesis’ leadership will undoubtedly build upon the remarkable achievements we have seen over the years. I look forward sustained success and transformative change ahead!
