FL Electeds & Leading Voting Rights Advocates to Rally w/ Hundreds At Capitol & Demand Passage of Florida Voting Rights Act Now
TALLAHASSEE – On Wednesday, March 26th, Florida House Representative LaVon Bracy Davis (D-Orlando) and State Senator Tracie Davis (D-Jacksonville) – sponsors of the Harry T. and Harriette V. Moore Florida Voting Rights Act – will rally with hundreds of Florida voters and advocates to demand the passage of Florida’s Voting Rights Act now.Â
Electeds will be joined by leading Florida voting rights groups and advocates, including Equal Ground Action Fund, Florida Rising, the Florida NAACP, All Voting is Local, ACLU of Florida, Common Cause, SPLC Action Fund, and Legal Defense Fund, to show the massive support for the critical voting rights protections all Floridians deserve.Â
While we continue to see ongoing attacks on voting, with a slew of voter suppression bills already introduced that build on the years of work to suppress Black and Brown voters in Florida, lawmakers and advocates will speak out against the unjust attempts to silence minority communities and all Floridians.Â
Speakers will rally the hundreds of attendees around the Florida VRA, which aims to expand voter access and establish key protections against discriminatory voting practices, while calling out Florida’s failed electoral system that denies racial, ethnic, and language minority groups an equal opportunity to elect candidates of their choice and influence elections.
